Open Enrollment Under the Affordable Care Act Ends on January 31st

For those of you who are using health care under COBRA and do not have alternative insurance covered through a new employer, I high recommend signing up with healthcare.gov and checking the many choices of coverage, available there. Note that open enrollment end by the end of day on Tuesday, January 31st., 2017, only a few days away.

I know from my own experience, as well as from what I heard from many people who used the medical insurance marketplace exchanges through healthcare.gov, that we were all surprised for the better.

BTW--I am very satisfied with the coverage that I received from the exchange (through BridgeSpan, which is actually Regence). I am paying only $75.60 for an HDHP plan, after subsidies. The plan has much better provider network coverage than the plan that I had through Intel (including COBRA) and preventive care is actually free. I encourage you to call Healthcare.gov by phone and talk to one of the reps in person.

To my surprise, when I called Helathcare.Gov on the phone, I received the best service from the service representative  that I talked with. He was very knowledgeable and patient with me and was able to answer all of my questions very clearly. Being a U.S. Government service, I must say that their level of customer support beat that of any of the call centers of commercial entities that I called over the last year. Apparently, getting better than minimum wage allows quality people to be employed by Healthcare.gov, This apparently cannot to be said for commercial companies that hire people who are willing to receive starvation salaries or minimum wage. It make sense that employees have motivation to serve you (the public) at a level that is directly proportional to their compensation.
